So long Catwoman...

Yesterday, Christmas Day, Eartha Kitt lost her battle with colon cancer.
Orson Welles once described her as "the most exciting woman in the world." Coming from Welles, one of the most indulgent and hedonistic men to ever live, that was quite a compliment!
Most younger folks have never seen the 1960's campy version of Batman, which starred Adam West (now of Quahog Mayoral fame). In lieu of the more recent ass-kicking adaptations of Batman, that might be a good thing. However those of us who had the stomachs to sit through the ridiculous exploits of Adam West and Burt Ward will no doubt remember Eartha Kitt's sultry portrayal of Catwoman. The casting was perfect as Kitt, a self-proclaimed "sex kitten," was famous for her catlike purr.
Although she had a magnificent career spanning many different mediums -seeing her name mentioned with the Emmy, Tony and Grammy Awards was hardly news - every time I saw her I always thought "Oh hey there's Catwoman!"
So long Eartha. Tell Bergess Meredeth and Frank Gorshin I said hello.
